Postcards from Guatemala


This Spring/Summer capsule collection is inspired by Penelope's time in Guatemala, staying at Casa Palopó, the first Relais & Chateaux hotel, on the shores of Lake Atitlan in Guatemala. Vibrant geometric weaves and typical lozenge motifs in intense pink and turquoise, with a touch of orange, echo the paint pigments she discovered this during her time at the charity initiative @PintandoElCambioGT in Santa Catarina Palopó, Greens and browns signify the luscious vegetation of the surrounding landscape.

This inspiring project, set in a hillside village, with breathtaking views of three majestic volcanoes opposite uses colour to transform a community with an aim to paint all 850 houses in a palette of cobalt, lilac, and ochre - as found in the threads of Guatemalan traditional dress – while turning it into a sustainable community and cultural destination. Invited to join in painting one of the houses, the team found themselves in turquoise heaven, with the sun on their backs and organic paint colours in hand...
