A blissful blend of 70s style and that bold Gaucho energy, the Lucia Rociera is a treasure to behold and a joy to wear. The pretty almond toe sets off the elegance of this long-heeled boot, the soft and unstructured oiled suede makes it feel all the more inspiring for the journey ahead.
Posada Rociera
Inspired by an equestrian classic, the Gaucho Saddle, the Posada Rociera Boot has a timeless style and an endless energy, a soft feel but a reliable strength. A flat heel with an elegant length to the leg, this has a flattering cut, an empowering sense and a sophisticated impact. Crafted in our soft, oiled suede, the Posada is perfect for all kinds of adventures.
Paloma
Nodding to her Southern Spanish heritage, Paloma is a new style of Heeled Ankle Boot, and already a seasonal favourite. A playful take on the Chelsea Boot design (Do we have anything we could link to?), the Paloma has an added edge – The Scallop has been blended into a fine zig zag detail to frame the elastic. The softness of the oiled leather combines with woven trims and tonal stitch detailing to ensure a comfort and an energy like no other.

The story behind the PC Scalloped Boots
The Scallop Design is heavily inspired by the spirit of the Gaucho, and the intricate details of their equestrian wares. The panels of the saddles, the ripples along their bags, the colours of their clothes, the strength and joy of their characters and that unforgettable style combined with an inherent love and appreciation of nature and animals – the inspiration is limitless.
Equestrian roots are at the heart of Penelope Chilvers, from our Spanish riding boots, to our Clogs, to our Scalloped Boots – we are eternally inspired by the art and leatherwork of saddlery itself, along with the artisans that work so beautifully in this space. And the inspiration really does go back, all the way to the beginning of our story.
While living in Barcelona in her 20s, working as a painter and designer, Penelope used to enjoy riding in the hills above the city. With a desire to create the perfect riding boots, tracked down a boot maker to make me a pair, to my own measurements and design. The response for these boots was palpable. Between them, they had created the beginning of the brand, with Penelope bringing little bit of Spain back to England every time.
“I kept my bootmaker very busy making boots for all my friends. He would often disappear off into the countryside to contemplate the finer things in life; rearing partridge, camping out, and generally feeling at one with nature. When he eventually returned to his workshop he’d find an order for 10, 20 and quite rapidly 100 boots from me. He’d explain that the artisan’s passion comes from making one pair at a time. He’s unrushed, appreciating the beauty in the silhouette, or patina of a hide, each pair different to another.
I felt the same passion for my friend’s work, and over the first few years, we would chat over long lunches, enjoying the warmth of a brazier under the table, covered by a heavy wool, horse blanket. I listened hard as he explained the arts of boot making - perhaps the most testing of all footwear - due its many measurements, and took in his philosophy on waste, and the traditions of a country existence, where mindfulness can be found in your work.”

Our collections are founded in long-lasting, slow fashion. We make things properly – no corners cut. We believe that with the right care, these are boots for life.
Our artisans work with natural materials including oiled suedes and naturally dyed leathers which age and wear beautifully, and due to the natural qualities of our materials, are susceptible to imperfections and details. It's all part of their character and only adds to the beauty of the product.
We are proud to use the Goodyear Welt design within our Scalloped Collection, ensuring that these boots have flexibility, comfort and unparalleled longevity. Hereditary to the history of the British and European technique, and most expertly by the Spanish footwear industry, with its 70 touchpoints, the design of these boots means they will be beloved sidekicks of yours for many, many years to come.
All these qualities mean these boots are designed to show their history, taking on an easy lived in look and ageing with nobility, like the roots of their inspiration.
"I have learnt to respect the knowledge handed down generaions of the artisans that make my boots and shoes,but sometimes ideas are not possible to create.
Like a chef who references age old recipes, I continually refer back to traditional techniques of shoe production, sometimes though, these classic designs can barely be improved upon so I return to them all the time, adding a little creative flair to revive the style and bring them back to life in a new way.”
