Last of The Summer Wine

Last of The Summer Wine
The great thing about British summers is that sometimes, when you’re least expecting it and after a week of wondering whether to unpack your knitwear, the sun comes out and surprises you. This year, following an August full of sundances and lots of soggy weekends, the beginning of September has (finally) been glorious—and just in time for the annual PC Dog Walk. The Dog walk has become a bit of a ritual for us, a chance to regroup after the heady, halcyon days of summer, and a chance to get back into nature with some of our favourite editors, stylists and friends, who of course bring their dogs along too. Hyde Park was the perfect backdrop for our sunny stroll and subsequent delicious picnic breakfast courtesy of our friends at Fortnum & Mason. A great time was had, by dogs, and humans alike, who all looked elegant in their Penelope Chilvers leather dog collars and boots, alongside our F&M's wicker picnic baskets and signature light blue flasks. Which blended effortlessly with the new Aquamarine mohair throws — a picnic look we’ll be sure to recreate this autumn!

The walk is always a lovely chance for us to see so many customers and friends wearing their Penelope Chilvers boots and shoes, and this year, the Dog Walk also coincided with the launch of our new Jump Boot, it was great to see them on the feet of so many of our walkers! The boot is the first vulcanised rubber shoe we’ve made, it’s a careful blend of Spanish craftsmanship and scientific design. The process hardens our natural rubber, whilst fusing the sole to its leather upper using extreme heat. The result is a boot, which is a great transitional style, lightweight, in a soft semi-matte nubuck leather, and available in an easy honey brown, or two-toned poppy with black. It’s an ideal choice for those seeking a versatile and practical autumn look. Style with a silky skirt and oversized denim a la Remy Farrell, or as Gemma Sort Chilvers chose; pair with a kilt and t-shirt for a slightly edgier look.

We didn’t stop at dog walks either — last week also saw us host an evening of paella and cocktails at our Ledbury Road store, a chance to celebrate the launch of our autumn collection and catch up with so many of our west London customers, who we’ve missed over the last year! Again, the sun shone and our bowls of JamonJamon paella and light refreshing cocktails, via the genius that is Mixology with Olly, had us all believing we were gathering outside a storefront in Barcelona! Ledbury Road is a special place for us, very much a neighbourhood store and framed by our signature burnt orange storefront and stylish awning, it’s a spot often filled with friendly faces and lots of neighbours who pop in for a chat, as well as shop! It was lovely to see so many pairs of PCs and great to give you all a sneak peek of lots of our newer pieces, with the Bronte and the Blanca already emerging as true customer favourites. Long live busy weeks, spent eating great food, enjoying great company and making lots of memories with our friends again...
