Matilda Goad, Creative Consultant and Homeware Designer

What does Penelope Chilvers mean to you and what is your connection with the brand? I feel very close to the brand as I used to work on window design and installation for the shops - there is so much detail and a story behind each design that made it so much fun to develop an idea around.

Why did you choose your style of boot? What is it about this style that you like? I love a heavy boot - I wear lots of prints particularly floral and feel it toughens the look up a bit. I’m also a very practical dresser as my jobs means I’m on my feet all day!

What was it like to work with the brand for this project? I loved the set that had been created using Carolina Irving's beautiful prints.

How would you describe your mother’s style? In some ways we are very similar, and we share a lot of clothes, but the way we style them is very different. My mother is very elegant; her outfits are thought out and always paired with lots of jewellery. She used to design the chicest children's clothes and women's shirts so she has a distinct eye for what she likes.

How does creativity play a role in your family? It was all around me growing up and still very central to our relationship now - we speak on the phone at least once a day and I value her opinion of my designs and the brand more than anyone else.

What do you two have in common? A love for colour and prints.

What good things have been passed down from generation to generation? When I went travelling at seventeen, my mother gave me her St. Christopher, (the patron saint of travel), charm necklace. It still hangs around my neck most days and I cherish it.

Why did you choose your style of boot? What is it about this style that you like? The ankle boot is perfect for my everyday life be it in London or the country. The added twist of shocking orange elastic puts a spring in my step! I love them.

How would you describe your daughter’s style? Vintage boho - never one to comply with dress codes.

What do you two have in common? A passion for anything stylish or chic, intriguing colours, enjoying a cappuccino and laughter.

What good things have been passed down from generation to generation? The importance of family, kindness and honesty.
